How it all began

Terry L. Calloway | AmericanRoots.net

Terry Calloway started AmericanRoots.net as a service to fill a niche he recognized in the music industry, specifically the genre of bluegrass. His vision was to provide web development and unique and creative marketing solutions in the industry and hence AmericanRoots.net took shape.

Behind the idea

Terry is an avid bluegrass enthusiast and as such, saw a community in need of some creative and technical assistance. He felt that the industry’s situation called for assistance in developing truly professional websites, creative logo apparel for the bluegrass industry, as well as music promotions from the grassroots level. AmericanRoots.net is the answer to these and other unfulfilled visions of artists, hobbyists, and bluegrass enthusiasts.

The man with a mission

In 1986, Terry formed Data Technique — a computer and software consulting firm in Pittsburg, KS. He serves as company president, managing the day-to-day operation of the business.

Terry has also been active in the aviation industry, both as a pilot and flight instructor.

Background & Interests

Tying it all together

Terry's involvement with music dates back to the late 1960's where he was a member of the South Carolina All-State Band for three years. He later attended North Greenville College in South Carolina, where he studied Music Performance and studied the French Horn at Furman University. His major teachers included Gayle Chesebro and Clyde Miller. Terry performed regularly with numerous symphonies and wind ensembles until the mid 1980’s.

Today, Terry enjoys playing bluegrass guitar, and his goal is to share his extensive experience in information technology and skills with the rest of the bluegrass community and help others promote their music and interests in this unique genre. It is with this goal in mind, that he founded AmericanRoots.net, gathering a group of skilled professionals, to provide much needed services to the bluegrass music community.
